My interests line in learning and studying the natural history, biodiversity, and evolution of species, with a particular focus on snakes. By using molecular data, as well as ecological, morphological, and distributional data, I answer research questions relating to the movement and dispersal of species through space and time, adaptation of organisms to different environments, and correlations between species richness and corresponding environmental and genomic patterns. My work involves traveling to different places around the world, especially the Western USA and the Philippines, and utilizing resources from both field expeditions and natural history collections across the globe. While my research has a large emphasis on snakes, I’ve worked with other herpetofaunal systems as well.
In addition to research, I believe enhancing education and knowledge of academic and non-academic communities is important. Check out my Informal Education & Outreach page!
